“He Has Suffered Burns on Up to 44% of His Body” – Renowned Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away

Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has died from injuries sustained in a fire accident. He passed away at Ridge Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2025, while receiving treatment as reported by Ghana Web on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Semevo, 63, reportedly suffered severe burns in the incident, which occurred while he was asleep in his home.

His condition was described as critical after the accident, with extensive burns covering nearly half of his body. Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization that supports burn survivors, confirmed the tragic event.

Judith Addison, a representative of the organization, revealed that the actor had respiratory complications due to the injuries. “He has suffered burns on up to 44% of his body.

He has respiratory injuries and cannot breathe properly,” she stated.

Semevo was a celebrated figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry, known for his compelling performances on stage and screen.

His film credits include A Stab in the Dark, Harvest at 17, Escape of Love, The Good Old Days: The Love of AA, and Like Cotton Twines. His contributions to the arts left a lasting impression, earning him respect among colleagues and fans.
