Social media has descended on actor Big Akwes after he claimed that any man who fails to purchase a gift for their girlfriend on Valentine’s Day is a failure.
Big Akwes, while speaking on Max TV during a panel discussion, said that a man should be able to afford a beautiful gift to his boo on the beautiful red day of love.
He said if a man doesn’t have money to make such a purchase, they should sell their phone or something valuable and buy a gift for their partner.
Big Akwes added that if a man cannot do such a simple gesture on a special day like Valentine’s Day then he deserves to be alone.
He advised women that if their boyfriends, husbands or partner, cannot buy them a gift on Valentine’s Day, then they should find a way to escape that relationship because their man has disgraced them.

Big Akwes’ comment did not sit well with social media users who descended on him.
“And some of you thoughts, some of this celebs are wise enough?” one fan wrote in reaction.
Another said: “Reason why most of them ends up broke, all they think about is small small girls 😏😡”
