President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Operation Recover All Loot Committee (ORAL) will submit a report on their activities since its establishment next week.
The president said after receiving the report, he will forward the same for the various institutions responsible for investigating corruption and corruption-related offences for further action.
He noted that he remains committed not only to constructing roads and schools, but also to establishing a brighter future for our children, the next generation, and all posterity.
He was, however, quick to add that he cannot do that without being accountable to the people who voted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into office.
In achieving this, President Mahama announced plans to implement a very strict system of accountability and come out with a code of conduct for persons who occupy positions of trust.
He served notice that he will not only go after corrupt officials of the previous government but also those of his administration would be held accountable.
“We are not going to pursue only members of the past regime to account to the people of Ghana. We are going to pursue our own people and make sure they are held accountable to the people of Ghana. So even as we investigate those who have just left office and we carry out Operation Retrieve All the Loot, those who are current should also know that they will be held to the same standard as we are holding the past regime.
Next week, the ORAL Committee that I set up is going to present its report to me, and I will forward it to the investigative organisations to start their investigations against people who have misappropriated resources of this nation.”
The president made the remarks in Cape Coast on Thursday, February 6, 2025, as part of his ‘Thank You’ tour in the Central Region.”
