The Member of Parliament of Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, has raised concerns over the exclusion of certain notable figures from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial appointments.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Wednesday, February 6, 2025, Ntim Fordjour questioned why Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings; and Seidu Adongo, the Bolgatanga Central legislator, were not included in the list of appointees.

“Is it not interesting that Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, a very astute politician, respected medical doctor, and third-term MP, has distinguished herself, yet her name is not among the 56?” he remarked.

He further pointed out the absence of Samuel Fiifi Atta Mills, brother of former President John Atta Mills, noting that he is a third-term MP with extensive experience.

“It is also interesting to observe that, so far, the brother of former President Professor John Atta Mills, Samuel Fiifi Atta Mills, who played a role in giving President Mahama the opportunity to serve in a higher capacity as vice president and then his ascent gave way for him to become president, he is a third term Member of Parliament, yet his name has not found expression,” he noted.

Ntim Fordjour stressed that while the selection process was competitive, it raised questions about why some highly-competent individuals were left out.

He mentioned other names such as Isaac Adongo, Emmanuel Bedzrah, and James Agalga, pointing out their experiences and contributions to the party.

“It’s just interesting to make these observations. Isaac Adongo, Emmanuel Bedzrah have still not been named and a number of them. Agalga, he is very forceful, he has experience as former Deputy Minister of Interior and been ranking on the Defence and Interior Committee for almost eight years or seven years,” he remarked.

He urged those who have been appointed to recognise the privilege of their selection and to serve diligently in their respective roles.

“So, all these are equally competent persons and that should be the reflection for those who have been fortunate to name to be named among the 60 to go in there and to and to and to discharge their mandate to the best of their ability,” he added.
