Nine file nomination forms to contest Western Region Council of State election

Takoradi, Feb. 05, GNA – Nine persons have successfully filed their nomination forms to contest the Council of State election in the Western Region.

After close of nomination on Friday, January 31, seven males and two females had submitted their forms to contest the Western Region’s slot in the Council of State.

They are Nana Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, a 74-year-old Business Executive, Mr Adjei Clement, a 55-year-old businessman, Mr Maxwell Boakye, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, Nana Bonya Kofi VI, a 74-year-old traditional ruler, and Mr Morttey Ernest Selorm, a 46-year-old Medical Practitioner.

The rest are; Mr Jacob Oppon-Acquah, a 63-year-old Reverend Minister, Mr Mohammed Danjumah Alhassan, a 69-year-old retired driver, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, a 61-year-old Paramount Queen Mother of the Shama Traditional area and Nana Nkanomako IV, also a 62-year-old Queen Mother.

Mr Joshua Ofori Prempeh, the Acting Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), said the Commission would forward the forms to their Headquarters for further verification at the national level.

He stated that a notice of poll would be issued after the process ahead of the election on Tuesday, February 11 across the country.
