President John Dramani Mahama has named Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, the outgoing CEO, who cited personal commitments and aspirations as reasons for stepping down.
Mr. Basintale, a vibrant and influential figure in Ghanaian politics, is set to officially assume office on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Gratitude to the President
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Basintale thanked President Mahama for the opportunity, pledging his commitment to the role. “Thank you, Mr President, H.E John D. Mahama. We shall not fail you❤️🙏🏽🇬🇭,” he wrote.
Kofi Baah Agyepong’s Departure
Kofi Baah Agyepong, who has served as YEA’s CEO for the past two years, tendered his resignation in a letter to President Mahama. He described his tenure as “an honour and a privilege” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to addressing youth unemployment in Ghana.
His resignation is part of a broader trend of leadership changes in state-owned agencies following last year’s December 7 Presidential Election.
