National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah is urging Ghanaians to prioritize peace and tolerance, especially during these times of high political tensions. In a recent interview on Kessben FM, he emphasized that democracy thrives on differences, but these differences should never lead to division.

Kan Dapaah shared a personal story to drive home his message. He talked about how his two sons, despite being supporters of a rival football club, Accra Hearts of Oak, are still his sons and they live together harmoniously. He asked, “If I can love my sons despite their support for a rival club, why should politics divide us as citizens of the same nation?”

He also reminded Ghanaians that elections are not a battleground, but a process to determine the country’s leadership in a fair and peaceful manner. “Politics is not war. We are one people with one goal—to see Ghana prosper,” he said.

Kan Dapaah’s message is timely, especially as Ghana prepares for elections. As a country, Ghana has a reputation for being one of Africa’s most stable democracies, and it’s up to its citizens to ensure it remains that way by embracing peace, even in the face of political disagreements.
