The Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma Central Constituency, Jefferson Sackey, has appealed for calm and peaceful conduct during the special voting exercise and the upcoming December 7 general elections.
His call follows memories of violent incidents during the 2020 elections in the constituency, which tragically claimed one life.
As part of the ongoing special voting exercise, 140 out of 856 registered voters had cast their ballots as of the latest update.
Speaking to Citi News, Sackey encouraged all voters to participate in the electoral process responsibly and peacefully, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a violence-free election atmosphere.
“It is just a decision to take by the youth. There is no need to fight or be aggressive when somebody is voting. It is an expression of an opinion that this is the person we want to lead Ghana at this point. This is the person to lead Ablekuma Central Constituency.
“You go to the polls, cast your vote and go home. You come later to the polling station to see the counting process and at the end of the day, the EC will make a declaration on who the next president is and who the various members of Parliament are going to be in the respective constituencies.
“So, my advice to the youth is that this is a very simple process. There is no need to fight, we should all work as one people ensuring that 2024 is successful and smooth,” he stated.
