Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II, the Paramount Chief of Juaben, has expressed deep gratitude to the government for naming a model STEM school after him.

At a ceremony, which coincided with a visit by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, it was an opportunity for the Chief to reflect on this prestigious honour.

In a heartfelt address during a durbar held in his honour with a sense of humility, the second-longest reigning Chief in the Asante Kingdom acknowledged how significant it was to receive such recognition while still alive.

He told his subjects, “It means so much to me that this honour is being given to me today, not after I am gone. This moment is for us to share, and I am thankful for it.” For the Chief, the gesture from the government held a deeper meaning—something he felt would not have had the same impact had it occurred posthumously.

A proud advocate for education, Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II shared his personal journey in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. He recalled how his foundation in STEM played a pivotal role in his academic and professional journey, eventually leading him to pursue further studies in engineering.

“STEM education has been a guiding force in my life. It opened doors for me, and I am proud that the government is taking steps to promote this framework for the younger generation,” he explained.

The Chief expressed excitement for the model STEM school, which is set to serve as a beacon of learning for future leaders.

Once the school is fully operational, Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II said he would personally visit and engage with the students. “I look forward to stepping into the classroom and sharing my experiences with the students. It’s a small way of showing appreciation for what has been done,” he said.

In a strategic nod to the upcoming elections, Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II hinted that the government’s thoughtful initiative would likely inspire strong political support from his community. “This is a positive step, and I believe it will translate into support for the NPP come election time,” he added.
