Ghanaian Investigate Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has quizzed if the problems of thousands of head porters nationwide will be solved because one head porter (Kayayie) drives an electric bus.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on November 28, he wrote;
“So, if one head porter drives an electric bus, does that solve the problem of thousands of head porters nationwide?”.
Manasseh’s comment comes in wake of the brouhaha surrounding a Kayayie girl trained under Bawumia’s initiative to drive an electric bus.
Some people have questioned the authenticity of the Kayaye girl who drove the electric bus. Some claim that one needs a license C or D to driver busses and that shouldn’t take less than 2 years. Meanwhile, under Bawumia, Kayayes are doing it in less than 6 months.
Reactions To Manasseh’s Post
There have been a lot of reactions. Many people criticized Manasseh.
“It gives hope to others that there are other decent alternative jobs, other than carrying load which is not sustainable. On condition that she was a known head porter.” A user commented.
“It has partly solved that problem or? It will motivate other head porters to realize their potential that aside head porting, there are other good things that can come out of them.”Another user commented.
