Jegbo Ahmadiyya Primary School receives furniture, learning materials

By Solomon Gumah

Jegbo (N/R), Nov 28, GNA – School for Life, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has presented 10 dual desks and learning materials to Jegbo Ahmadiyya Primary School in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region.

The gift, which included school bags, exercise books, pens, erasers and pencils, was to help improve the quality of teaching and learning in the school and to also encourage learners to stay in school and complete their education.

The donation was made in partnership with the High Court of Poetry, a group of young people, who are into poetry that collaborated with School for Life, an NGO, to premier a play dubbed: ‘Potholes’.

That play brought to light the persistent issues confronting Ghana’s public education sector such as inadequate infrastructure and teachers, negligence and poor educational management.

The proceeds realised from the play were used to purchase the materials for the donation.

Mr Abdul-Hakeem Zakaria, a Field Officer at School for Life and writer of the play, during the event held at Jegbo to officially hand over the materials to the school, said, it formed part of the school’s commitment towards responding to the educational needs of communities and to ensure that more children had access to holistic education.

He said School for Life, in September, this year, under its Complementary Basic Education programme, transitioned a total of 24 learners into the school, adding, the donation was also to ensure that the beneficiaries had the needed support to thrive in the school.

Mr Zakaria urged Management of the school to take good care of the items for their benefit.

Mr Abdulai Yussif, Headteacher of the Jegbo Ahmadiyya Primary School, who received the items, thanked School for Life and the High Court of Poetry for their support, and pledged to ensure that the materials were used for their intended purposes.
