The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its readiness to conduct the special voting, which is set for Monday, December 2, 2024, at 276 designated voting centres across the country, ahead of the general election.
This exercise is designed for individuals who will be busy on the main election day, including security personnel, media personnel, and election officials.
At a meeting with the National Elections Security Taskforce, Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, said all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
She assured that the distribution of all ballot papers to every region in the country would be done by close of work yesterday, as part of its preparations for the upcoming general election.
Mrs. Mensa said ballot papers had already been sent to 13 regions, with only the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions awaiting final deliveries.
“As we speak, all our registers have been prepared and disseminated across the country,” Mrs. Mensa stated.
“We are also near completion with our ballots for the presidential and parliamentary polls. All the ballots, except for the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions, have been disseminated to our police armouries across the country.
“I am well aware that the ballot papers for these regions will be disseminated to the police armouries this afternoon,” she added.
The EC boss indicated that biometric verification devices, which are crucial for voter identification, would be deployed by the close of the weekend to ensure readiness before the elections.
