Election 2024: Key Highlights of National Election Security Taskforce meeting with EC held on November 26, 2024


According to the Chairperson of the EC:

  • Ballot papers have been distributed to Police Regional Armouries in all but 3 regions as of today
  • By close of today, ballot papers for the remaining regions will also be distributed
  • Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) for 8 regions have already been distributed to the Police Regional Armouries for safe-keeping
  • By this weekend, BVDs for the remaining regions would have been distributed as well
  • All the Political Parties as well as the Ghana Police and other stakeholders have been part of the process of printing and distribution of ballot papers
  • The EC has recruited about 210,000 officers for the elections
  • The EC has commenced training of officers for the elections
  • The EC has also developed short videos that will be shared with the officers to help refresh their minds after the training
  • This year the Commission has developed Aid Memoirs that will be posted at all collation centres to facilitate the collation process and help address any issues that may crop up during collation, such as request for re-collation, et cetera.
  • The Commission is ready for the December Elections and urges all registered voters to cast their votes peacefully and in an orderly manner
  • The Special Voting for the Security Agencies, the Media and Election Officers, will take place on Monday, 2nd December.
  • The Main Election will take place on Saturday, 7th December.

The IGP on his part:

  • Assured the Nation of the readiness of the security agencies to ensure peace before, during and after the Elections.
  • Commended the EC for a good job done, as the Police have been witnesses to the EC’s work throughout the electoral process so far.
