‘I Beg You, Ooo’ – Okudzeto Ablakwa Responds to 2028 NDC Running Mate Speculation

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has responded to ongoing speculation regarding his potential involvement in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2028 elections as reported by Ghana Web on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

His recent political activities and high-profile exposés have significantly raised his profile, leading to widespread discussions about him possibly being a flagbearer or running mate for the party.

On the November 23 edition of TV3’s KeyPoints program, private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu sparked the conversation, suggesting that Ablakwa could be a prime candidate for the vice-presidency in the 2028 elections.

Kpebu, while acknowledging Ablakwa’s potential as a future presidential candidate, pointed out that some might oppose the idea due to his age.

“At this rate in 2028, the NDC will have no option but to make Okudzeto Ablakwa vice presidential candidate,” Kpebu said.

However, Okudzeto Ablakwa quickly dismissed the idea, expressing reluctance to be drawn into such discussions. “I beg you, ooo, I beg you,” he said repeatedly as Kpebu extolled his qualifications for the role.

Having represented North Tongu since 2008, Ablakwa has also held key government positions, including Deputy Minister for Information and Education.

He currently serves as the chairman of Parliament’s Government Assurance Committee.

Despite the mounting buzz around his political future, Ablakwa seems focused on his current duties, urging for a pause on speculation regarding his involvement in the 2028 election.
