Clergyman urges pursuit of peace ahead of December elections

By Eric Appah Marfo

Accra, Nov. 23, GNA — Reverend Ato Jackson, Head of Outreach and Missions at Covenant Family Community Church, has called on Ghanaians to prioritize peace and spiritual renewal ahead of the December elections.

Speaking at a Blood Donation and Health Screening event in Accra, Rev. Jackson emphasized that peace, derived from a relationship with God, is key to national stability.

He urged citizens to seek spiritual transformation, which he believes would foster righteousness, reduce corruption, and help create a harmonious society during the politically charged election period.

“The Bible says that to know God is life eternal. If we as a nation desire perpetual peace and prosperity, we must seek a true knowledge and encounter with God,” he said.

Rev. Jackson explained that the health screening event was part of the church’s annual outreach program, addressing both spiritual and physical needs of the community.

The screening followed a three-day crusade in Labadi, Accra, where the church spread the gospel and gave participants an opportunity to accept Christ.

The crusade, Rev. Jackson noted, was successful, with many attendees responding to altar calls and showing interest in joining the church.

“We have met individuals struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol, and through the altar calls, a number of them have given their hearts to the Lord.

“If these commitments are genuine, I believe we are seeing real transformation at the individual level, which can ripple out to the entire community and eventually impact the nation,” he said.

Rev. Jackson said the church’s outreach efforts were part of a broader vision to know, share and prepare people to meet Jesus.

Mr. Gideon Sackitey, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Health Outreach, described the programme as the culmination of the Evangelism Emphasis Month.

He explained that the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between spiritual and physical health, ensuring that the community received holistic care.

“While we focus on their spiritual well-being during the crusade, we are also committed to their physical health.

The turnout today has been very encouraging, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve this community,” he added.

Mr. Sackitey said the health screening targeted around 500 attendees, offering free medical consultations and medication where necessary.
