John Abdulai Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, has responded to a viral video circulating on social media, which claims that he had a disagreement with John Dramani Mahama and refused to join him during a campaign in his constituency.

The video posted on X on November 21, 2024, shows what seems to be a visibly displeased Jinapor engaged in an intense serious conversation with some party members, while John Mahama addressed the crowd at the same grounds from where Mahama was campaigning.

Individuals who shared the video suggested that Jinapor was angry and refused to join Mahama on the podium, allegedly due to a disrespectful remark made about the Yapei chief during a campaign event.

However, in a Facebook post on November 22, 2024, Jinapor dismissed the claims, setting the record straight on the alleged incident.

According to him, no such event occurred as claimed. He described the video as a false narrative fabricated by some party elements from the NPP with the intent to mislead the public.

Jinapor has, therefore, urged Ghanaians to disregard the video.

“The general public is encouraged to ignore the false narrative and the concocted twist by these misguided elements who are only desperate and determined to cling to power even as the masses suffer. The next President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama is yet to visit the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency for campaigning, so I couldn’t have been angry with him at a non-existent rally in my constituency. For the avoidance of doubt, no such incident occurred,” he posted on Facebook.
