Claims Bawumia’s long stay in Ashanti is because there’s a problem is absurd

Vice Chairman of the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Campaign, Nana Akomea has debunked claims that the flagbearer has spent a lot of time in the Ashanti Region because several people in the region are disgruntled.

According to him, the Ashanti Region has 47 constituencies, and the flagbearer intended to cover all the constituencies like he has done everywhere he has gone.

Therefore, they needed fifteen days to be able to cover all the constituencies in the region, which is their stronghold.

Nana Akomea who was speaking to Channel 1 in an interview said they had to spend that amount of time in the Ashanti Region because that has been their strategy since the primaries.

“I heard one or two people interpret Bawumia’s two weeks in the Ashanti region as a sign that there is a problem in the Ashanti region. Those people say they are political marketers. They don’t know what they are talking about.

“I am a politician, I’m a theorist, I’m a practical politician, and I know that your stronghold must take much of your time. Ashanti region has not taken a disproportionate amount of Dr. Bawumia’s time. If you’ve been following the campaign of Dr. Bawumia, you’ll see that he does three constituencies in one day. Even with the primaries, we will do three constituencies in one day. Some of us thought it was too much because sometimes you’ll finish at 11 pm. The amount of time he spends in a region depends on the number of constituencies in the region.

“Ashanti Region has 47 constituencies. If he’s spending 3 constituencies in one day and to cover the 47, he needs 15-plus days. So the campaign in Ashanti is not different and he’s doing three in one day so if he’s going to cover the 47 he needs two weeks and two days. So what is the basis of anybody saying he’s spending a disproportionate time in the Ashanti Region? He did same in Eastern and Greater Accra regions,” Nana Akomea told Umaru Sanda on Channel 1 TV.
