“It Was an Opportunity to Observe from Afar’

Former Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has revealed that he holds no grudges toward his party despite his removal from the position of Minority Chief Whip as per reports from Star FM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Speaking candidly during an interview on GHOne TV, Muntaka reflected on the circumstances surrounding his exit from the role, which occurred in January 2023 following a reshuffle by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership.

Muntaka, who was replaced by the MP for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza, claimed that the leadership’s decision was aimed at removing him from parliament entirely.

He described the manner of his removal as disrespectful, although he acknowledged that such changes were inevitable within politics. “The very day we entered those offices, we knew that there would be a day that we’d be walking out of them,” he stated.

Despite the circumstances, Muntaka emphasized that he holds no resentment and has found peace after his departure. “Believe me, God is my witness.

I’m at complete peace with myself. Sometimes you don’t know the kind of burden that you are carrying until you put it off,” he shared. He also noted that stepping back has provided him a chance to observe the political landscape from a distance.

“Sometimes it’s good to also observe from afar and see how things are. Nevertheless, it was an opportunity,” Muntaka added.

While his role in parliament has changed, Muntaka remains committed to supporting his fellow MPs in retaining their seats during the upcoming elections.

He also expressed his continued focus on his constituents, citing his ongoing efforts in areas such as Wenchi and Salaga, among others, to help improve the community and serve the needs of the people.
