The Ghana Evangelical Missions Association (GEMA) successfully hosted GEMAFEST 2024, a four-day festival uniting evangelical leaders, businesses, and individuals to explore the synergy between work, business, and the Great Commission.
The event aimed to inspire missionary work, foster partnerships between businesses and evangelism, and promote holistic ministry, focusing on the integration of faith and work for community transformation.
Rev. Dr. Godwin Kofi Ahilijah, President of GEMA, underscored the transformative power of collaboration in advancing the Great Commission.
He emphasised, “We must ensure a synergy between business and the Great Commission. For years, our focus has been on reaching unreached people groups in rural communities through community development and gospel preaching.
However, we have overlooked the 90% of Christians in workplaces. This conference aims to empower believers in banks, the judicial service and even the Makola market to live Christ-centered lives in their workplaces.”
Since its inception in 2010, GEMAFEST has become a premier platform for evangelical networking and strategic partnerships, equipping members for global missions.
This year’s theme, “Faith, Work, Business, and the Great Commission,” highlighted the essential role of work and business in advancing the gospel.
Delivering a plenary message, Dr. Yaw Perbi, an executive member of GEMA, urged Christians to embody integrity and purpose in their professions.
He emphasised, “As followers of Christ, we are called to be salt and light wherever we are—not negligent or corrupt. God’s mission is to bless creation, and GEMA is committed to engaging in various transformative projects.”
Madam Theresa Parbi, an executive program organiser, also highlighted the importance of workplace evangelism.
“As children of God, we are mandated to spread the gospel. This year, we are targeting workplace evangelism,” she stated, sharing her experiences and insights alongside other members.
The event reaffirmed GEMA’s commitment to equipping believers to live out their faith in the marketplace, advancing the gospel through practical and innovative approaches.
