Akua Donkor’s Family Announces Date And Venue For His One-week Observation

The family of the late Madam Akua Donkor, the founder and former presidential candidate of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has announced the date for her one-week observation.

Akua Donkor’s passing occurred on Monday, October 28, 2024. The news of her death quickly spread on social media, with many people sharing their condolences with her family and supporters.

At the time of her passing, Akua Donkor was actively preparing for the 2024 elections, where she was number 3 on the ballot paper, with just 39 days left until the polls.

According to Adomo online, the one-week observation will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Ejuratia Funeral Ground.

Friends, family, and sympathizers are invited to join us from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm to honour her life and legacy.

She applied to contest as an independent candidate in the 2012 election to become president of Ghana but was disqualified by the electoral commission on accounts of not meeting the requirements set for the election. She later decided to give her support to Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party.

In 2020, Donkor was among the three female presidential candidates to be cleared to contest the 2020 presidential elections. Out of the 12 candidates that contested, she came fifth.

In 2024, Donkor announced Mr Philip Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, known in the media as Roman Fada, as her running mate for the general election.

She has left an indelible mark on the political landscape of the country, serving as a source of motivation for girls who aspire to go into mainstream politics.
