The Savannah Region’s Damongo Constituency is a “world bank” and “secured” area for the New Patriotic Party, according to Mr. Samuel A. Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for the constituency. Jinapor has downplayed the chances of the National Democratic Congress winning the 2024 elections. At a rally in the Constituency on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Mr. Jinapor spoke to a throng of NPP fans and said that the Constituency had undergone unheard-of growth and change under the Akufo-Addo administration, turning it into one of the NPP’s strongholds.

He boasted that the NPP has expelled the NDC from the Constituency with its numerous development projects and will always win the local parliamentary and political elections. In the Damongo constituency, he stated his whole faith and trust that the NPP would not only defeat the NDC but also win the 2024 elections. The Damongo Constituency is safe, I want to reassure Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, our incoming vice president. It will remain an NPP stronghold and is guaranteed for the party in 2024, 2028, 2032, and 2036.

With hundreds of fans cheering him on, he declared, “We are constructing a party to establish a stronghold in the Constituency.” Mr. Samuel A. Jinapor praised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s accomplishments and qualities as a diligent, modest, and committed Ghanaian who cares about the nation and its citizens when he formally introduced him to the audience as the NPP’s vice presidential candidate. He listed some of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s most notable achievements, including as his effective implementation of the Free SHS program and his battle against dumsor. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who took his turn at the podium, highlighted the Damongo Constituency’s historical and spiritual relevance to the NPP and Ghana’s elections.

“An NPP victory in Damongo would ultimately confirm the NPP as the poll winners,” he said. Napo opened fire on John Mahama and NDC, saying that the region saw greater development during the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration than Mahama, who is from the region. Mr. Saeed Muhazu Jibral, the regional minister for Savannah, enumerated some of the government’s development initiatives in the region and urged the people to give the NPP a decisive win.
