Ghana FA denies President Okraku met German coach over Black Stars role

The Ghana FA has dismissed reports that President Kurt Okraku met with a German coach regarding the Black Stars, stating that these claims are “completely false” and should be disregarded by the public.

The Black Stars have struggled in recent games and are on the verge of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, leading to speculation about a potential replacement for under-pressure coach Otto Addo.

Rumours intensified when Okraku travelled to Germany, but the Ghana FA clarified that his trip was “to engage with representatives of Puma, the long-standing official kit sponsor of the Black Stars, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen our partnership.”

“We respectfully urge the media and the general public to disregard these unfounded rumours and refrain from spreading them.”

However, the FA did not offer any backing for Otto Addo amid the pressure on his position.

The Black Stars will return to action this month with must-win games against Angola and Niger, as Ghana hopes to qualify despite slim odds, with Sudan needing just a draw from their remaining two games to seal Ghana’s fate.
