‘Support the team through tough times’

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Daniel Nii Adjei, has urged Reds fans to continue supporting the team despite their inconsistent form at the start of the new Ghana Premier League season.

His plea comes after Asante Kotoko’s loss to Heart of Lions on matchday 9 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Speaking with Kumasi-based Kessben FM, the former footballer emphasised that losing games has consequences, and players do not intend to lose.

“I will urge the fans to rally behind the team in difficult times. I don’t think the players will deliberately lose a game. They lose their bonuses when they suffer defeat, and it also brings their enthusiasm down,” he said.

“As supporters of the club, we always have to cheer the players up in tough times. We shouldn’t leave them in times of difficulty. The fans should keep supporting the team,” he added.

Asante Kotoko is struggling to maintain consistency despite being at the top of the table.

After winning two consecutive games, the Porcupines have drawn one and lost two of their last three matches.

Consequently, they have dropped from the top spot to third place with 15 points.
