Veteran politician Kofi Konadu Apraku has criticised John Mahama for being desperate to become President again after the people of Ghana voted him out for non-performance.
Addressing thousands of supporters during the campaign tour of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at Atwima Nwabiagya in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, who was a Minister in the John Agyekum Kufuor administration, questioned what good former President Mahama who doubles as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could offer the country that he could not offer when he was given the opportunity as President.
“The other day, someone was saying that Mr. Mahama has occupied every position in Ghanaian politics, from the bottom to the top, including being President.”
In a direct riposte to the former President, Dr. Apraku told Mahama that he had his chance as President and lost it because he did not live up to expectations.
“People saw the work you did as President, and you were voted out and rejected again. What at all has he left at the Castle or Jubilee House that he is so desperate to come back to take?”
“What good thing can Mahama do for this country that he could not do when he had the opportunity to be Vice President and President?
“He has been a Vice President before, and he has been President before; he could not do anything. Now he says we should give the Presidency back to him. To come and do what?
“What can he do that he could not do when he got the opportunity that now he says he wants to come back? In a democracy, the people have the power, so when the people give you the power, and they take it back from you for failing to deliver, you cannot come and ask them to give you back the power,” he added.
