Okaikwei Central’s Baba Sadiq Calls for Members of Parliament to Tackle Constituency Challenges

Okaikwei Central’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Baba Sadiq, has stressed the urgent need for parliamentarians who are authentically dedicated to addressing the distinct challenges facing their constituencies.

In an interview on Voter Connect aired on GHOne TV on Thursday, Sadiq stressed the dual role of Members of Parliament (MPs) as both lawmakers and crucial drivers of development in their communities.

He said, “Today, where we are heading as a country, the kind of MP we are looking for is not an MP that makes laws, but an MP that understands the unique challenges of their constituencies.”

He emphasized the importance of MPs utilizing their experiences, insights, and ingenuity to tackle local issues effectively.

Sadiq criticized the incumbent MP, Patrick Yaw Boamah, accusing him of taking undue credit for projects initiated by the central government.

He said that he can debate Boamah anywhere, and that he cannot to claim state projects as his own.

He said, “You cannot continue to claim state projects as yours. Indeed, you are claiming the central government’s projects in Okaikwei Central. It shows that you lack significant personal legacy projects.”

The candidate stressed that many politicians, regardless of their political affiliation, often attempt to take credit for government projects that they had no direct hand in influencing.

Sadiq further criticized the practice of politicians from all sides taking credit for government initiatives, labeling it a “hollow excuse.”
