The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into a fatal motor accident involving a Police Yutong bus with registration number GP 417 and a Royal motorbike with an unknown registration number at the Tesano Zongo traffic intersection in Accra.
A police bus driver was arrested for allegedly knocking down and killing a motorcyclist at Tesano in the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The incident reportedly occurred as the police bus driver attempted to bypass traffic by using the opposite lane, resulting in a fatal collision with the rider.
The crash intensified an already heavy traffic jam stretching from Tesano through the Achimota overhead toward Nsawam.
In a statement issued on October 30, the police explained that the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty.
The statement added that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, spoke with the family to express his condolences on behalf of the Ghana Police Service and assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident.
