Presidential candidate of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has vowed to address the water supply challenge in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern region, criticizing the government for its inability to deliver on a $30 million water supply project which begun in July 2020.

Speaking at a mini rally in Ngani, Yendi constituency, the former president accused the current administration of neglecting the project and failing to provide a much-needed health facility for the area.

He assured that the NDC government under his leadership would prioritize completing the Yendi Water System and constructing a modern district hospital to ensure quality healthcare for the people of Yendi and surrounding areas.

“There are things we’re doing on the drawing board for the Yendi constituency. When the NPP came, they refused to continue, one is the Yendi water system. It is supposed to take water from the river here at Sabari, feed all the communities, including Nani, all the way to Yendi, and give all of them water.

“We also had on the drawing board the Yendi District Hospital Project. For eight years now, this government has done nothing about it. I even thought that if they were doing Agenda 111, they would come and put one at Yendi. Unfortunately, there is nothing, NDC is coming to build a modern district hospital at Yendi so that it will be a referral hospital for all the people around Yendi,” he stated
