Bobrisky
Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has reportedly been arrested by security authorities while attempting to flee the country.
Social media activist, Martins Ortse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), alleged in a video posted to his Instagram account on Monday that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border while trying to enter Benin Republic to evade an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
According to VDM, Bobrisky is being held by Nigeria’s immigration services as authorities investigate claims involving the social media influencer.
VDM had recently released an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly confessed to bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million and dodging a six-month jail term in Kirikiri Prison, allegedly due to the influence of his godfather.
The revelations sparked an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives. However, Bobrisky failed to appear before the committee, citing illness.
His attempt to cross the border has now raised further questions about his involvement in the allegations and his reasons for avoiding the investigation.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding Bobrisky’s arrest or the next steps in the ongoing investigation.
