Tamale, Oct 20, GNA – The Reverend Peter Enibo Gagara, Northern Regional Director of Missions of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has donated various items to two medical units of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) to mark his 60th birthday celebration.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which was one of the beneficiary units, received syringes and needles, a gallon of methylated spirit, a box of disposable gloves, 100 pieces of cannula size 26, a gallon of sanitizer, a pack of diapers, a box of wipes and a container of baby food (NAN 1).
The Neurosurgical Unit, which was also a beneficiary, received two flat screen television sets to support its activities.
Rev Gagara, during the donation exercise, was accompanied by his wife; Mrs Comfort Gagara and some leaders and members of the Kingdom Temple of ICGC in Tamale, including Rev Prince Lewis Fiadjoe, Senior Pastor of the Church and his wife; Mrs Doris Lewis Fiadjoe.
Rev Gagara said the gesture was to celebrate the faithfulness of God over his life and ministry for the past six decades.
He said it was also to thank God for miraculously saving his life at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra in 2014 when he was involved in a terrible road crash whilst on the missions field.
He added that the donation was also in appreciation of the excellent work that God used the health professionals to save his life in a way that defied human understanding.
The birthday celebrant said: “I am touched to support this two units because of the great job their counterparts in Accra did for me. I should have made this donation to the 37 Military Hospital but since Tamale Teaching Hospital is closer to me, I decided to come here to demonstrate my appreciation and to encourage others to do same.”
Rev Gagara expressed gratitude to God and his family and to all who, supported him in the ministry, especially during the period when he was involved in the road crash.
He said “I was not supposed to live after that accident but God showed me mercy and I have to also demonstrate that same mercy onto others.”
Dr Adam Abass, Head, Neurosurgical Unit, TTH, who received the items, commended Rev Gagara for his kind gesture, saying, the gesture was strategic and timely for the smooth operation of the beneficiary units.
Dr Abass appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to support the facility with monitors, microscopes, anesthesia and x-ray machines to support quality health care delivery.
