The New Patriotic Party (NPP) maintains that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has no substantial message, which is why he refuses to debate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
This comment follows Mahama’s rejection of President Akufo-Addo’s challenge for a debate with Dr. Bawumia, asserting that such a debate would elevate Bawumia to his level.
In an interview with Citi News, the spokesperson for the Dr. Bawumia campaign team, Miracles Dennis Aboagye claimed that Mahama is simply avoiding the debate because he has nothing to offer Ghanaians.
“Make yourself available, address your people, look them in the eyes, let’s hear you and hear your opponent and what your solutions are so we can run a comparative analysis. And you are there running your mouth and making excuses. You have made excuses and run away from Dr Mahamuud Bawumia all these years.
“First of all, you told him that he is not the flagbearer and that if he wants to debate you, he should become the flagbearer and get himself elected. He has fulfilled that.
“Now come and debate with me after fulfilling your requirement. You say, oh, go and debate with the teachers. He has done that. He has debated the teachers as requested and he has debated all the sectors. He is ready to debate a former president wherever he is.”
