Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has urged Ghanaians to keep faith with the team despite their disappointing defeat to Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

He stated that even though they are at a higher risk of missing out on the 2025 AFCON, the team can still qualify with the permutations involved.

Addo assured the public that the team will give their best to win their last two games against Niger and Angola and hope Sudan loses two matches to pave the way for Ghana’s qualification.

“It’s not over yet. Mathematically, there’s still a chance and we will do everything in our hands to keep this chance alive. I think I need to go a little bit not only on this game but a little bit more and reflect.

“The passion and the discipline defensively, but also offensively, position-wise, was really good. Just like we didn’t execute and the results were not there. But surely we deserved to win against Angola and also the last home game against Sudan,” he said in a video shared by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Black Stars’ performed poorly against Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, losing 2-0 in the return leg in Libya.

After four matches played, Ghana is third in Group F with two points, Sudan is in second place with seven points, while Angola leads with twelve points.

The Black Stars will travel to face Angola and play the last match against Niger in Ghana in November 2024.
