The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has commissioned an ultra-modern regional office in Narhman, Greater Accra Region, replacing the former office located at 37 to enhanced service delivery to the public.
The inauguration of the ultra-modern regional office underscores the authority’s commitment to improving service delivery for customers as well as, maintaining best practices in driver and vehicle licensing to promote road safety and environmental sustainability.
The Chief Executive of DVLA, Kwasi Agyeman Busia, in his speech said, the new regional DVLA office is a hub of innovation, designed to redefine how they serve the citizen and uphold their responsibilities with integrity and pride.
According to him, within the span of seven years, DVLA has undergone a comprehensive digital overhaul, leveraging cutting-edge technological advancements to significantly enhance service delivery, emphasising that, it has significantly reduced processing times, minimise errors and has enhanced data accuracy.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, said the transformation of DVLA over the past years from a manual time-consuming operation to a modernised institution that embraces technology and innovation, has been nothing short of remarkable.
The commission of the new regional office, she said, underscores the government’s broader vision of strengthening public institutions to meet the ever-evolving demands of the public.
“In a world where speed efficiency and accessibility are crucial, this facility will serve as a central hub for driving innovation in the sector, enhancing quality services offered and ensure that our systems keep pace with global standards,” she said.
According to her, the transportation sector is the lifeline of trade commerce and human mobility and as Ghana continues to rise as a hub of economic activity, “it is imperative that our transportation and regulatory frameworks are agile and fit for purpose”.
Deputy Minister for Transport, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli Esq. speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport, stated that, the new regional office reaffirms the government’s commitment to advancing Ghana’s transport infrastructure and services, ensuring that they are efficient, accessible and positioned to serve the needs of the citizens and businesses.
He mentioned that the commissioning of the new office signifies the transformative turning point in the development of the road transport industry, particularly in the realm of driver’s license administration and vehicle registration within the nation.
Additionally, he said the modernised DVLA facility enhances Ghana’s transportation competitiveness through efficient registration, robust safety inspections and seamless licensing, stating that, these improvements will benefit citizens and attract logistics as well as transport investment.
Board Chairman of DVLA, Frank Davis Esq. revealed that, DVLA has made significant strides by introducing innovations such as the online service platform which allows clients to access services from the comfort of their homes.
He added that, the introduction of mobile services and satellite offices in underserved areas has made it easier for busy clients to access their services without needing to travel long distances.
He thus urged all staffs to uphold to highest ethical standards to ensure that every applicant and vehicle is thoroughly examine before any license or certificate is issued.
