I would’ve been jailed if I were Mensah Otabil who supervised Capital Bank’s collapse

The Founder of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, believes he would have been languishing in Nsawam Prison by now if he were Pastor Dr. Mensa Otabil, who oversaw the collapse of Capital Bank due to the misappropriation of funds.

According to the controversial man of God, many Ghanaians, including those in power, have grown antagonistic towards him, harboring hate for him despite his innocence.

“When the issues with the bank arose concerning the misappropriation of huge sums of money, which led to the collapse of Capital Bank, and some Ghanaians were criticizing him, we supported him in prayer because he is human and can make mistakes. It could also happen to me, so I saw no need to condemn him. If the issues with the bank had involved me, Owusu-Bempah, I would have been in Nsawam Prison by now. But because it is him, he is walking around freely.

“People are alleging that a man of God shouldn’t have acted the way he did in the bank issue. I listened to the discussions on the radio and read about it in the newspapers. When I put myself in that situation, I realize that if I were Dr. Mensa Otabil, considering the way I am hated, I would have been imprisoned at Nsawam Prison by now. Despite being a man whom God has used to prophesy for so many years, accurately predicting the leaders of this country, I am constantly insulted. Yet, my prophecies always come to pass. Regardless of my track record, the insults persist, but that will not change what God has said. What I have prophesied will surely happen,” Rev. Owusu-Bempah stated in a sermon at his church on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

He was responding to a statement made by Dr. Mensa Otabil, the Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), who had asserted that ‘God does not choose leaders for countries.’

Rev. Owusu-Bempah pointed out that the Bible contains numerous examples of God choosing leaders of nations.

He emphasized that God not only chooses national leaders, but also appoints individuals to lead and guide His flock. He added that all leaders, including Otabil and himself, have faults, but that does not negate their divine calling.

“The fact that some leaders, including men of God, make mistakes does not mean that God does not choose leaders. God will continue to choose men of God and empower them to do His work. Which leader chosen by God had no faults in the Bible? Moses had faults; Noah was not perfect; Abraham, Jacob, David, Samson – all of them had faults. But that does not mean that God did not choose them.

“In all humility, I have great respect for Dr. Mensa Otabil because he is one of our fathers in the work of God. He is one of the people who has helped establish Christianity in this country. He is highly anointed and very mature, but it is not right to elevate your own office while bringing down someone else’s office,” he said in Twi.

Rev. Owusu Bempah continued, “The same God who called you and gave you (Otabil) the teaching anointing is the same God who calls prophets and gives us the prophetic anointing to choose, like Jehoiada, like Elijah, Elisha, and Nathan. When he had his challenges – the bank issues and accusations of corruption – and Ghanaians were criticizing him, we all supported him in prayer because he is human. It happened to him, and the same could happen to me, so I had no right to condemn him. But if Dr. Mensa Otabil respects his teaching anointing, I also respect the prophetic anointing.”
