Actor and New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer, Prince David Osei, has voiced strong doubts about former President John Dramani Mahama’s chances of returning to the presidency.
In a post on X, he dismissed the likelihood of Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, winning the 2024 presidential election, even with the support of influential pastors.
“Even if all the pastors were to pray and anoint Ex-President Mahama, he would not regain the presidency,” Prince David wrote, suggesting that Mahama’s path to victory is improbable.
Prince David Osei also addressed accusations against the ruling NPP, particularly those linking the party to illegal mining, or galamsey, a controversial issue in Ghana.
He argued that the illegal mining problem transcends political lines, involving individuals from both the NPP and NDC, as well as other influential figures in the country.
“The ongoing propaganda tactics against the NPP, including accusations of involvement in illegal mining, will not succeed. The issue of illegal mining involves individuals from both NDC and NPP, politicians, pastors, and the public,” he stated, adding that he believes in the power of his prayers and urges Ghanaians to “pay attention and consider the facts.”
Illegal mining, or galamsey, has been a deeply divisive issue in Ghana, with both major political parties facing criticism for their handling of the problem. Prince David Osei’s comments have sparked conversation on social media, as Ghanaians continue to debate the impact of political influence on the fight against illegal mining.
