The President of Kenpong Academy, Mr. Kennedy Agyepong, recently embarked on trips to Norway, Denmark, and Belgium to meet with European partners of the academy.
These meetings focused on collaborations, twinning and exchange programmes, as well as player transfers to Europe.
As one of Ghana’s leading football academies, Kenpong Academy boasts state-of-the-art facilities designed for modern football training.
The facilities include a 64-room dormitory, a modern kitchen and dining hall, classrooms, an office complex, a gym, changing rooms, an orchard, a swimming pool, and a natural grass pitch with underground drainage.
Additionally, an artificial grass pitch is currently under construction, and there are adjoining plots for future expansion.
The academy is fully operational, housing 35 players and a staff of 12, comprising coaches, trainers, teachers, development and performance analysts, administrative staff, and other personnel.
In recent times, officials from top European clubs, including Barcelona and FC Bastia, have visited the academy.
Mr. Agyepong’s recent trip to Europe was aimed at solidifying agreements and making preparations for the transfer of players to partner clubs during the upcoming transfer window.
Notably, Ghana’s embassies in these countries have offered their support and cooperation in furthering the academy’s efforts in Europe.
The Ghanaian embassies in Belgium and Denmark, led by His Excellency Mr. Henry Tachie Menson and Her Excellency Mrs. Sylvia Annoh, respectively, were particularly recognised for their assistance.
Mr. Agyepong expressed his appreciation to the embassies, stating, “We are grateful to the Ghanaian embassies in Brussels and Copenhagen, especially Ambassadors His Excellency Mr. Tachie Menson and Her Excellency Mrs. Sylvia Annoh, for their participation in our meetings and for helping us navigate the local landscape in Belgium and Denmark.
“This is an excellent initiative to promote the business and tourism of sports between Ghana and these European countries.”
Mr. Kennedy Agyepong hopes that Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad will continue to provide the necessary support to local sports clubs, enabling them to explore and strengthen partnerships with European clubs for their mutual benefit.
