Nana Ama McBrown and Empress Gifty
Nana Ama McBrown couldn’t hide her disappointment when Empress Gifty failed to appear on the recent episode show.
While addressing her audience toward the end of her program, McBrown took issue with Empress Gifty’s last-minute withdrawal, which was communicated through her producer rather than a direct call.
“We shared our flyer about our guests, and Empress Gifty was supposed to be here. I’ve just been informed that she has to attend to an emergency and can’t make it. However, she didn’t provide any details about the emergency, and we don’t know what it entails,” she explained.
McBrown added, “There’s nothing we can do about it. All we can do is wish her luck. But we’re pained by this. Empress, you had to tell me at the last minute that you wouldn’t be able to make it?”
Her frustration extended to the manner in which Empress communicated her absence.
“You had to tell your producer to inform my producer instead of calling me directly? You have my direct contact and WhatsApp number. Why didn’t you personally reach out?” she questioned.
McBrown further posed a question, “Would you be happy if I treated you the same way? Call me, or I won’t forgive you,” she stated.
Empress Gifty and McBrown’s recent interaction
Despite their perceived rivalry, Nana Ama McBrown and Empress Gifty had a surprisingly cordial encounter at Dr. Osei Kwame Despite’s mother-in-law’s one-week observation.
They were seen interacting and complimenting each other at the event as though no feud existed between them.
Empress Gifty even took the opportunity to ask McBrown when she would promote her new song.
“Please, you haven’t recorded a video for my new song yet,” she inquired.
McBrown assured her, saying, “I won’t let our enemies rejoice over us; I’ll record a video for your song, okay?” Empress responded, “Don’t let our enemies get to us, please.”
Background of their feud
The tension between the two began when Empress Gifty launched a new cooking show on UTV, which replaced “McBrown’s Kitchen” after McBrown’s departure to Media General.
McBrown criticised what she saw as “copycats” entering the cooking show space, asserting her dominance.
This led to a series of jabs exchanged between the two, further fuelled by allegations that McBrown had repeatedly overshadowed Empress Gifty’s opportunities, including the “Onua Showtime” program.
The rivalry has sparked discussion among their fans on social media.
