Agona West NPP Chairman cautions party members campaigning for breakaway MP

By James Esuon

Agona Swedru (C/R) Oct 14, GNA – The Agona West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, has warned that the executive committee will expel members who defy the rules and regulations of the party.

The Constituency Chairman has therefore asked constituency executives, electoral area coordinators and polling station executives who have joined the campaign team of the breakaway MP, Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison, now contesting as Independent Parliamentary Candidate to stop or be expelled from the party.

Alhaji Tanko gave the warning when he addressed the supporters at a special prayer held for the Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Chris Arthur and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for God’s favour and assistance on December 7.

The special prayers were part of the campaign tour of the Central Regional Women’s Organiser, Madam Charlotte Adjoah Antwi in the constituency.

Alhaji Tanko said Article (3) of the party’s constitution stated that any member who contested as independent candidate or joined an independent candidate seized to be a member of the party.

He said as chairman, he would together with other executives of the constituency announce the outright dismissal of some members, if they failed to rescind their decision.

The Constituency Chairman said ‘’the executives including myself had gathered enough evidence about some members who have joined the breakaway MP’s campaign team and would soon drop bombshell against those supporters in Agona West’’.

Alhaji Tanko said time was ripped for those who had joined the campaign of the MP to be weeded out because enough was enough, adding that the MP was given a fair and level playing field to contest the primary and lost.

According to the Chairman, the MP and her cohorts had decided to cause mayhem in the constituency but, “we would do everything possible to ensure victory for Dr Bawumia and Chris Arthur in the December 7 polls.”

Madam Antwi said it was pathetic to witness the MP going solo and therefore asked her to revert and join the campaign of Dr Bawumia and Chris Athrur to ensure victory to enhance continuity of progress of the country.

The constituency engagements took Madam Antwi, Mr Arthur and supporters of the party to Agona Swedru Central Market and Nyakrom Community center to canvas for votes.

She urged party supporters to embark on aggressive campaigns in churches, lorry stations, mosques, and public gatherings to preach good messages in the party’s manifesto for the people to have reasons to vote for NPP on December 7.

The Women’s Organiser called on the supporters to avoid insults, acrimony and personal attacks but let the people know the good works done by the party for them to give the nod to Dr Bawumia and Mr Arthur.

Mr Arthur on his part, expressed gratitude to the men of God and the entire women’s groups who decided to intercede on his behalf and Dr Bawumia to seek the presence of God to help emerge victory in the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He urged supporters and campaign team members to remain focused, adding he would never be destructed or disturbed in his efforts to embark on aggressive campaign to defeat the opposition NDC again.

The PC expressed optimism that the supporters in the Agona West including floating voters would accept the good messages of the party and thump it up for the victory.
