Ghana launches Citizen App to consolidate public services, to enhance accessibility and efficiency for citizens.
Ghana has, this week, launched the CitizenApp, a digital platform that is designed to enhance accessibility to public services.
Launched by Ghana’s vice president Mahamudu Bawumia, he noted on his X account, the piloting of the app is part of the government’s strategy to build a digital foundation in the West African country.
The app contains an identification system, which is similar to the biometric national identity card (Ghanacard).
The CitizenApp is designed to provide users with digital accessibility of public services, including filling taxes, business registration and job searching, as well as the ability to access civic documents.
The launch of this app adds to other digital innovations launched by the country, which include the Ghanacard, digital address system and money mobile interoperability.
Commenting on the launch of the app, Bawumia said: “Building this digital foundation is essential to the transformation of a modern economy in this 4 Industrial Revolution, and the launch of the CitizenApp, further demonstrates our commitment to enhancing interactions between government and citizens.”
