Prof Ransford Gyampo Visits IGP Office Over Arrest Of Democracy Hub Protestors

Respected political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo earlier today visited the Inspector General of Police, Akufo Dampare to discuss several key issues, including the recent arrest of democracy hub protesters and the current state of policing in the country.
The respected professor known for his views on democracy and governance, sought the IGP’s perspective on the matter, highlighting the delicate balance between upholding the right to protest and ensuring law and order by the security and the protesters. Prof Gyampo firmly supported the constitutional right to express frustration through demonstration, stressing that this must be done strictly within the boundaries of the laws of the country.
He acknowledged that while protests are a democratic right,. protesters who overstep the law should be held accountable.
“There are two sides to every coin. I believe and support our right to demonstrate, but strictly within the confines of our laws. Should a few overstep boundaries” professor Ransford Gyampo remarked.
He however, emphasized the need for law enforcement to apply justice in a measured manner, warning against excessive force in application of the law.
“the law must apply, but not in a manner that makes it look like using a sledge hammer to kill an ant”
Meeting with the IGP is part of professor Ransford Gyampo’s broader efforts to engage with key stakeholders on matters of public concern .
