Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru could miss the upcoming game against Sudan on Thursday in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament due to a minor injury.

The RSC Anderlecht midfield enforcer is one of the 25 players invited by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for the doubleheader against Sudan during the October international break.

Although sources have noted that Majeed Ashimeru is expected to join the national team’s camp, he is likely to miss the matches.

His club, RSC Anderlecht, has already informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) about a knock he sustained in their 3-0 victory over Standard de Liège.

As a precautionary measure, Cercle Brugge’s Francis Abu has been called up to replace the former WAFA midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have held their first training session in Accra as part of preparations for the first meeting with Sudan later this week on Thursday.

The 10 players who trained include Jojo Wollacott, Frederick Asare, Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and debutant Isaac Afful.
