The group, consisting of over 2,000 fetish priests from across the country, has vowed to unite for an unprecedented protest against the destruction of lands, water bodies, and forests.
Kwaku Bonsam, the president of FPAG, spoke with Akua Oteng Amponsah on Kasapa Kase3, stating that the protest will be more than just a public outcry; it will include spiritual actions, with curses being placed on those responsible for the environmental degradation.
Bonsam warned that within two weeks of the demonstration, the “wrath of the gods” would be unleashed, potentially leading to loss of life for the offenders.
The protest’s preparations are ongoing, and a date for the event is yet to be finalized. Following the demonstration, the group plans to submit a petition to both the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Sanitation, which will then be forwarded to the President for action.
This threat of protest comes after a previous warning from the FPAG to the government two months ago, indicating their growing frustration with the galamsey issue.
In addition, other groups like the Ghana Catholic Bishops and Organized Labour have also issued threats, stating they will launch a nationwide strike and demonstration by October 10 if the government does not take immediate action to address the galamsey menace.
