The Presidential Candidate and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has called on Ghanaians to reject political parties that attempt to buy their votes with money in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters at Obogu in the Asante Akim South Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Alan Kyerematen described the act of giving money in exchange for votes as a sign of disrespect, urging voters to resist such offers.
“They will come and share things for you to vote for them. They will come with money but think about it twice,” Mr Kyerematen stated, addressing the crowd. “If after all these years they didn’t come to you and now they are giving you money, it simply shows that they don’t respect you.” His words resonated deeply with the people of Obogu, who had gathered in their numbers to hear him speak.
Alan Kyerematen emphasized that politics should be about bringing meaningful change to the lives of citizens, not short-term incentives designed to sway votes. He urged the people of Obogu to carefully assess the development in their communities and, if they found it lacking, to vote against the ruling party in the December 7 polls. “We do politics for the development of the country. We have to change them if the country has not moved forward after they took power,” he added.
The atmosphere in Obogu shifted as Alan’s message sank in, and many in the crowd appeared visibly moved by his appeal for integrity in politics. His call for a rejection of the status quo and real change was welcomed by supporters and members of the community who, like many others across the country, have grown frustrated with the slow pace of development.

One of the attendees, a businessman named Osei Boakye, spoke after hearing Alan Kyerematen speak passionately about Ghana’s slow pace of development. Mr Baokye expressed frustration that Ghana, despite its abundance of natural resources, is lagging behind its neighbours. “We can’t remove our intestines and replace them with cotton wool. Alan, apart from being an Ashanti, has done a lot and has good intentions for this country,” Boakye said, highlighting the strong support Mr Kyerematen enjoys in the region.
Mr Kyerematen’s 21-day tour in the Ashanti Region is expected to make a significant impact ahead of the December elections.
His message of real change, job creation, accountability, and respect for the electorate has resonated with the people, many of whom are ready to see a shift in the political atmosphere. As he continues to gain momentum, his message is spreading rapidly across the region, energizing his base and attracting new supporters.
