Eastern Region: NDC alleges discrepancies in voter transfer records in 8 constituencies

Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region has alleged discrepancies in the voters register in eight constituencies.

Addressing a press conference in Koforidua, on September 16, the regional leadership of the NDC emphasized the need for transparency in the electoral process, unveiling what they describe as disturbing revelations about the voters’ register.

“If you have accepted you erred and have corrected it, let’s have the evidence and be sure the right corrections have been done. If they have integrity they would comply. Yet EC says it is not ready. Why is the EC running away from forensic audit?” Mark Oliver Kevor, NDC Regional Chairman retorted.

“We have submitted our findings to the EC, there is serious voter manipulation in several areas in the Eastern Region,” the Regional Chairman added.

The NDC believes that without a thorough audit, the credibility of the upcoming elections could be compromised, insisting that the anomalies discovered could have serious implications.

The NDC Regional Secretary, Jamal Konney, listed areas they allegedly found the anomalies.

“In Achiase constituency, voter transfer was 453. However, 1520 have been discovered in the register. 1067 voter transfer has illegally been effected. In Lower Manya Constituency 978 voter transfer was recorded. However, 2,359 voter transfer has been discovered in the register.

An illegal 1,381 has been added. In Nsawam Adoagyiri 2,000 voter transfer was recorded, however 4,661 transfer list has been discovered in the EC register.2661 illegal voter transfer has been added to the Nsawam- Adoagyiri voters’  register. Lower Manya Krobo, Nkawkaw ,Yilo Krobo, Ofoase-Ayirebi, all have discrepancies. At Asuogyaman, a polling station with code E011303 named International School Akosombo has only one voter captured in the voters’  register”

“We will not be intimidated by the coordinated efforts of the EC and the NPP to subvert the will of the people. We demand nothing less than a transparent, credible and fair electoral process and we will not rest until justice is served,” he said.
