Otumfuo and Dormaahene actions are not worth emulating – Diana Asamoah

Diana Asamoah, a gospel musician, has weighed in on the continuing public rivalry between Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, and Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Traditional Ruler of Dormaa.

According to her, the public fight between Dormaahene and Otumfuo does not bode well for their social standing in Ghana, given their fame and importance.

She admitted that the feud confirms biblical prophecy: in the final days, kingdoms would rise up against each other to see who is preeminent over the others; hence, it is not wholly surprising.

Diana Asamoah, speaking in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3, criticised Otumfuo and Dormaahene for their impolite behaviour, stressing the fact that it does not set a good example for the youth.

“Aside from what I’m saying, if you read the Bible thoroughly, you will never speak against any authority because the Bible states that countries will rise against nations and kingdoms will rise against kingdoms.

“Look at what’s going on in Ghana right now: what has Asantehene done to Dormaahene, and who has wronged whom.” These are significant people from whom we are learning, but look at what they are doing now. It’s not good, but it’s become politicised,” she remarked.

“The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, ‘Know that in the last days, hard times will come and men will be proud,’” Diana Asamoah continues, “because everyone wants to feel big.” Men will also be money-drunk, and nowadays, a father can kill their child without remorse because of money. As a result, fetish priests have become pastors.”

People chastised Dormaahene for underestimating the dominance of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after he claimed there is no ‘king’ in Ghana.
