The CEO of Ghana’s renowned leather manufacturing company Horseman, Tonyi Senayah, donated 140 pairs of unisex school sandals to the Siruu Basic School in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region. The endeavour was a remarkable act of kindness and a symbol of hope for a school that has faced its share of challenges, as revealed in the Joy FM documentary, ‘Schools of Shame’.

Mr. Senayah, who watched the documentary which shed light on schools in underserved communities, was touched by the plight of the Siiru community and committed to providing sandals to the pupils to enable them to continue their education in comfort.

The items were received by the Headmistress, Don Mahatebel, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the pupils and the community. She said the sandals donation was timely as most pupils came to school barefoot. She called for more support as the school lacks basic amenities such as classrooms, desks and textbooks.
