The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has congratulated Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, while urging motorists and other road users in Lagos State to adhere strictly to road safety regulations during the festive period.

In a statement issued on behalf of the management and staff of LASTMA, Bakare-Oki described Eid-el-Kabir as a period of spiritual reflection, sacrifice, faith and total submission to the will of Allah.

He called on Muslims to uphold the values of peace, compassion, discipline, tolerance and harmonious coexistence, which he said are central to the significance of the Islamic festival.

The LASTMA General Manager also appealed to motorists, commercial drivers and all categories of road users to exercise caution and demonstrate responsibility on the roads before, during and after the celebrations in order to safeguard lives and property.

Bakare-Oki warned against reckless driving, excessive speeding, dangerous overtaking, route violations and other traffic offences capable of causing avoidable accidents and fatalities.

He further advised drivers to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or other intoxicating substances that could impair judgment and coordination while operating vehicles.

According to him, strict compliance with government-approved speed limits, traffic regulations and established road safety measures remains essential to ensuring a peaceful and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.

Bakare-Oki disclosed that LASTMA officers would be strategically deployed across major highways, traffic corridors and key intersections in Lagos to facilitate smooth vehicular movement, strengthen traffic management operations and provide emergency response services where necessary throughout the festive season.

He also urged residents and motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and other security agencies by obeying all traffic laws and safety directives aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring collective safety.

The LASTMA boss subsequently wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while praying for continued peace, unity, prosperity and socio-economic development in Lagos State and Nigeria.
