Alhaji Seidu Agongo, Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist
Prominent Ghanaian businessman, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has pledged GH¢500,000 to support the ‘MahamaCares Initiative’, a program aimed at providing critical healthcare support to the poor and vulnerable across the country.
In a social media post on April 30, 2025, the philanthropist stated that the donation was not motivated by personal wealth, but by compassion and a sense of duty to those “silently suffering without healthcare.”
“Not because I have, but because I care,” Agongo stated, underscoring the urgency of the initiative’s mission to deliver medical assistance to underserved communities.
The #MahamaCares Initiative was launched on Tuesday April 29, 2025, with a personal pledge from the President John Dramani Mahama, who committed his six-month salary to the cause.
The program aims to provide free surgeries and other essential medical care to thousands of Ghanaians who cannot afford treatment.
“With @JDMahama’s 6-month salary pledge, we’re standing in solidarity to give thousands hope,” Seidu Agongo added.
The donation is expected to boost the capacity of the initiative to reach more beneficiaries as it scales up operations across various regions in Ghana.
