The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, resumed the Otumfuo Mediation Process, a significant initiative aimed at resolving the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

The mediation process is taking place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

According to reports, representatives from the two factions involved in the dispute, the Kusasis and the Mamprusis, have already arrived at the palace.

Visuals from the venue of the initial meeting have been shared on social media, offering a glimpse into the solemn and carefully arranged setting.

The hall features a stage with three pairs of chairs: two placed in the center for the mediators, flanked by seats on either side, presumably for the leaders of the opposing factions.

Additional seating has been arranged on the right and left sides of the hall, likely to accommodate members of the factions’ entourages.

Security was visibly tight around the venue. A heavy police presence was observed, including a large police truck entering the palace grounds, underscoring the high stakes and sensitivity of the meeting.
