Ghanaian-American pop sensation, Amaarae
Ghanaian-American pop sensation Serwah Ama Genfi, popularly known as Amaarae, has called on fans of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to refrain from engaging in online banter following her recent expression of admiration for Shatta Wale.
Amaarae, on April 28, 2025, hosted her highly anticipated “Black Star Block Party” at the Republic Bar in Osu.
During her performance, she openly praised Shatta Wale, describing him as a powerful force in the Ghanaian music industry.
She acknowledged that while the “Ayoo” hitmaker has had controversial moments, including verbal spats with other artists, his contributions to the industry remain significant.
Following her remarks, some fans of Stonebwoy took to social media to question why she didn’t also acknowledge the “Jejereje” hitmaker during the event.
Responding to the backlash, Amaarae took to her social media platforms to clarify her position and appeal to both SM (Shatta Movement) and BHIM Nation fans to avoid stirring unnecessary controversy.
“SM & BHIM fans! Please don’t go and cause trouble on my top I beg. Stonebwoy has been my big brother for years. And I also love Shatta’s music,” she wrote.
Amaarae explained that the reason Stonebwoy’s music wasn’t highlighted during the show was simply because the DJ did not play any of his songs.
“The DJ played Freedom and the party went up so I bigged Shatta! I also bigged Efya for like 10 minutes & we performed her songs together. I bigged Eazzy! If the DJ played any Stone bangers I would have bigged him too!” she added.
Amaarae’s remarks aim to clear the air and reaffirm her respect for both artists, emphasising that her admiration for one does not take away from her appreciation for the other.
