Come and intercede for your family – Rev. Wengam

The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, is urging Ghanaians to take part in this year’s Family Consecration Service—a dedicated time of intercession and spiritual reflection for families.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, April 29, Rev. Wengam invited people from all walks of life—including single parents, grandparents, couples, and youth—to attend the special prayer event scheduled for Thursday, May 1, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

“At this point, what can you do for your family other than to intercede for them?” he asked, emphasizing the importance of lifting families in prayer during challenging times.

Rev. Wengam, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, will lead the six-hour session alongside other seasoned ministers, including Rev. Mawuli Tsikata, Rev. Mawuli Benson, Rev. Michael Noagbewonu, Rev. Nelson Awintia, and Rev. Fred MccDavis.

He stressed that the event will be entirely prayer-focused, with no sermons. “It is prayer, more prayer and prayer—no preaching. It is interspersed with worship and great music,” he explained.

Adding further details, he noted that attendees will also have moments for personal reflection and spiritual release: “Then there will be time to pray for people with issues, and there will be a time where we allow you alone with God to pour your heart out.”

The service is expected to draw individuals seeking spiritual renewal and divine intervention for their families.

The event, a cornerstone of Citi FM and Channel One TV’s annual Family Month, builds on a month-long spiritual preparation through Seasons of Prayers, a series of live prayer sessions broadcast every weekday at midnight, dawn, and midday throughout April.

He assured the public that this year’s consecration service will feature targeted intercessions covering key areas of family life, including financial well-being, marriages, relationships, and health. Attendees will also have opportunities for personal encounters and vow renewals for couples.

Over the years, the Family Consecration Service has drawn thousands of participants, many of whom have testified to breakthroughs and transformations in their lives after engaging in the sessions.

Rev. Wengam emphasised the urgency of the moment, reiterating the importance of standing in the gap for loved ones. “We deal with family strongholds and demonic patterns. Therefore, we want to encourage single parents, grandparents, and everyone. Come and intercede for your family.”

The service will take place on Thursday, May 1, starting at 6:00 a.m. and will end promptly at noon.
